First meeting of the Observatory 2030 in Zaragoza
Between the 19th and 21st of June the Aragonese capital will host the first transversal meeting of the "Observatory 2030".
It is a strategic project of the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) which has brought together all public and private agents involved in the design and planning of cities. Its main aim is to make them more sustainable, inclusive, resilient and safe, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The summit, structured in two main events, will bring together more than thirty experts from the fields of architecture, academia, public administration, the business sector and the third sector to debate on how to guarantee the quality of life of people through a better design and planning of urban environments.
The first event will take place on Wednesday, between 11am and 2pm, at the headquarters of the College of Architects of Aragón (COAA). It will begin with an initial speech by the former UN-Habitat director, Joan Clos, and will be followed by two debates moderated by journalist Manuel Campo Vidal, where problems concerning housing, climate change and urban regeneration will be discussed.
The second event will take place the next day, at the School of Engineering and Architecture of Zaragoza (EINA). The discussion, titled "Building a collective vision of the future", will serve as a preparatory session for the next Congress of Architecture of 2020. It will bring together around twenty experts in the field, with the aim of finding a new way to face current challenges in terms of housing, city and territory.
Finally, on Friday the 21st the COAA will host the Extraordinary General Assembly, through which the CSCAE wants to give voice to the representatives of all the architects in the country and work with them to solve their needs as professionals.
