The Cartography and Local GIS Technical Office, attached to the Area of Infrastructures and Natural Areas

. Its mission is to provide support in mapping and managing georeferenced information, thus creating a basic tool for knowledge, planning and the integrated management of the territory. In doing so, it strives towards the following goals:

Provide local authorities with reliable basic and thematic cartographic and territorial information that can be used for analysis, planning and management tasks within their respective jurisdictions.
Keep this information accessible, up-to-date and compliant with the standards and formats regulated by current legislation in this field.
Provide support and technical guidance to the province's municipalities in areas related with cartography and municipal GIS.
Manage a municipal territorial network with common GIS objectives, increasing the exchange of experiences and optimizing resource use.
Administer Barcelona's Spatial Data Infrastructure, using the IDEBarcelona website to integrate and make available to the public geographical information on the province of Barcelona and other resources aligned with current standards and regulations.
Develop educational and informational activities within the scope of the Office's activity.
