Network SITMUN

SITMUN is a project that was developed among 2003 and 2005 thanks to the community initiative INTERREG III-B SUDOE , integrated by Spain, Portugal, south of France and Gibraltar.

The idea of SITMUN arises from it constatació of the difficulty that supposes the implantation of platforms of management of geographic information (SIG) at municipal level. For this reason it posed the development of a platform SIT (System of Territorial Information) municipal centralised that, managed by body supramunicipals, permitted to endow of functionalities SIG at the city councils that, having the necessity, did not have of own modes for his correct implantation.

The principal aim of SITMUN consists, then, at developing, implant and manage instruments of support at the territorial management of the townships by means of the digital geographic information and the tools that permit to manage it (SIG).

At present SITMUN is at operation at distinct administrations supramunicipals of the room SUDOE, offering an integral kick of management of geographic information at the local entities that are in his territorial field.
